About Me

In my almost 10 years of research experience, I have had to adapt to the demands the projects require. As a result, I have acquired a diverse skill set that includes laser operation, machining design and handling, electrical engineering know-how, and programming. Additionally, I like to work in teams where I can validate or kill ideas fast and I am very open minded to constructive criticism as I see it as an important aspect of fast growth.

Proficient in : Python, Bash Shell

Experience

Northwestern University

Research Assistant

June 2018 - Present

  • Developed a Python framework to conduct data analysis on terabytes of particle accelerator data.
  • Performed statistical tests to mitigate detector and simulation effects from data.
  • Utilize monte carlo simulations and fitting routines to separate signal from a background model

Northwestern University

Research Assistant

June 2015 - June 2018

  • Planned, designed and built a benchtop experimental set-up for atom and ion trapping
  • Built custom electronics for reliable operation of the ion/atom trapping experiment (ex. PID Controllers for laser power and temperature stability)
  • Designed and built custom optical systems that increased light capture from 1% to 4% for shorter integration times
  • Programmed control software with millisecond accuracy in Labview and Python PyQt5 module

Projects

Personal MySQL Recipe Database

  • Collect data in Google Spreadsheet format to provide ease of use to non-technical collaborator
  • Utilize Google Spreadsheet API to populate the MySQL database hosted in my personal server
  • Front-end in development (HTML and PHP) to provide non-technical users a UI

Personal Wiki hosted in LAMP stack

https://moinmo.in/
  • Configured an Ubuntu Apache web server to setup a personal wiki powered by MoinMoin and accessible by a public domain name
  • This wiki page is used to provide extensive documentation on my thesis and personal projects

  • Design all teaching material (lecture, quiz, exams), while also working a full-time Ph.D. student
  • Actively communicated with senior co-worker to coordinate work and teaching duties
  • As the local physics expert, I clarified and provided feedback on the class topics to my co-worker
  • Played an instrumental role in the students’ progression, as expressed by the senior co-worker.

Beacon Academy

High School Teacher Assistant

November 2017 - December 2017

  • Helped the entire student class increase their interest in physics through one-on-one mentoring
  • Teaching approach yielded higher student grades, as expressed by the director

Leadership Roles
